Weekly Photo Challenge – Community

Here is my offering for this week’s WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Community.

Here in Australia we recently had a change of Federal Government.  Sadly it is one which doesn’t see the importance of the environment, and is currently dismantling environmental watchdogs throughout the land.  Two of the major environmental concerns here are the Great Barrier Reef as well as climate change, both of which the government is not concerned about — in fact, our Prime Minister does not believe in the effects of global warming.  The Federal Environment Minister has just signed off a huge new coal terminal, a fourth gas export plant, and 3-million cubic metres dredging inside our Great Barrier Reef, the impact of which has the potential to cause irreparable damage.

So my photos in this post reflect the involvement of the Brisbane community in peaceful demonstrations designed to support Greenpeace and Getup as they attempt to keep the government accountable for the good of the environment.
