This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge revolves around the idea of what in our minds is (extra)ordinary. Of course this can be something that some may consider mundane, whereas others looking at the photo might see it as being not so.
I’m offering these four photos taken in a butterfly enclosure in a person’s back garden. The butterflies (and ant) might consider themselves to be having just another ordinary day, but my experience was (extra)ordinary. Enjoy!
The head shot is funny, great post!

So pretty! And that head shot made me laugh. Was that a selfie? Hard to do!

No, it was on the head of a friend. 🙂

How the lens of a camera transforms the mundane, the familiar, the ordinary into something exotic. Thanks Kim for encouraging me to pause and really look at everyday things in a new way.

Thank very much Robyn. Yes, I learned some time ago that there is much more to see in this world when we stop and look around…even up. Your garden would be a treasure trove of such opportunities. 🙂

The small scale allows that kind of opportunity for sure

Yes. Do you ever do macro shots? I’m trying to master them, but I don’t necessarily have the subject material close at hand — having a garden such as yours would make that a little easier I think — well, at least with finding subjects. Mastering the technique is another thing.

Not a photographer beyond my iphone. Do you mean by macro, taking close ups of very small subjects?

Yes, that’s right. I have a dedicated macro lens for my camera, and hope to master its use soon. I also take lots of photos on my iPhone. It’s quite amazing what one can capture with a phone isn’t it.

Makes me look like I know what I’m doing : )
But I’m fascinated by perspective and how that changes the way we view the world. The camera lens demands you look at things differently. Children have the same effect on me. I love the way they cut through the dross and artifice we take on as adults. Seeing things from their perspective gives the world a new shine.

Yes, that’s so true of children.

Thanks Debbie. That day I took close on 100 photos; an amazing experience and certainly not ordinary.

Beautiful photo, but I only see one, not four.

There’s an arrow on the right hand side of the first photo. It will forward the next and so on.
