This week, my photo for the Weekly Photo Challenge is of my favourite flowering tree here in Australia — the Jacaranda. The photo was one of many taken during a visit to the Jacaranda Festival in the small NSW town of Grafton, in 2011.

I remember the first such tree I grew in my backyard — I lived in Toowoomba (QLD), which gets quite cold in winter, with heavy frosts. The tree took a while, but the year that flowers appeared I felt so proud. 🙂
